In this episode, I talk about the periods where one can feel tired of or sceptical of the Craft. What do you do when you feel there is something missing? Why do some Pagans treat the spiritual journey as a 24/7 costume party? What are my deepest dreams and aspirations? I talk about Australian author, musician, Witch and reality TV host Fiona Horne and may or may not have mentioned Deborah Gray.

To offer fresh perspectives, I invited your comments for the first time, and received three very refreshing ones. Thank you immensely to Sylvia, Celestite and HedonsDog for sharing your experiences and insights and letting me use them on the show, and also to Thea and her husband for writing in and sharing with us your beautiful Spooks.

Music on today’s episode featured The Divine Madness with The Sorrow and If Tomorrow Comes and The Sleeper’s Opera with Old Death, all courtesy of the Podsafe Music Network.

    Fortuna,

I just heard your last episode, and had to write and say good job, and not just because I was read on air either. ;)

You brought up some things that I didn’t think of when I wrote about magic, and this last episode left me with lots to ponder. I’ll probably listen to it at least once more to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

As far a labels go, I know of several people that are having labeling issues lately. It’s hard to generalize and categorize paths when everyone’s path is an individual thing. Then add the eliteists and posers to the mix as well and it gets pretty hard to want to be labeled. Someone once said, if you put 3 pagans in a room, you’ll wind up with 4 different definitions of paganism, you know? So, yeah, like Sylvia said, forget about labeling, just do your own thing, and develop your own relationship with Diety, and I’ll accept that just fine oh mighty majikian! :)

    Blessings, Love, and Joy,
    ‘Dog

Thank you for this podcast. There have been moments where I myself am not so sure I belong on my path. Due to the closed minded (so called open minded) pagans in my area. People are not so ready to open their doors to those who are new to the community. I have been pagan for four years but I’ve been very much solitary all this time. Unfortunately pagans in my area look at new people as if they are just in it for the “pretty stuff.”

I’ve chosen to take part in a few events, but as of now my path remains pretty solitary. That’s why I love listening to so many podcast’s. Most of them are so “real” more “real” than even getting together with others in my area.

So again, thank you. Your podcast is fantastic!

    Well done!
I enjoyed that. I did not realize that you were talking about yourself when you proposed the subject.

I will share a source of inspiration that I found. When I was going thru a “am I really Wiccan or do I just like scented candles?” phase I stumbled across a podcast that I turn to over and over again.
Ariel’s Druidic Craft of the Wise. It is on itunes. The website is http://www.thedcw.org.

Ariel is a Druid and doesn’t agree with some of the fine points of Wicca. But he has never made me feel the least defensive because I always wanted to hear more of what he has to say.
He talks to everyone, Pagan mostly because he embraces magick and spellwork, but he doesn’t rule out Christians or anyone else.
He talks about how this is all a spiritual path. He explains the teachings of his craft so that you know where he is coming from, but he relates it to everyone in everyday life.
He certainly didn’t make me want to chuck Wicca and run out to become a Druid, but he did get me to ask myself the right questions and make sure I had the right answers to feel that I was on the right path for me. And he gave me some new ways to think about what a spiritual path really means.
If you want some insight from someone with a lot of wisdom to share, I highly recommend listening to him.

Anyway, you did great tonight! I am going to take a stab at it too, but I am only halfway thru my Elements project so I have to finish that first.

    Blessings
    Celestite

    Greetings Fortuna and Fluffy,
Episode 7 has been your best thus far! I am deciding to read a book about Wicca and or Pagans. I need more information. I grew up with a grandmother who was very Methodist and I was raised Methodist. I quit going to church pretty much after high school. (about 35-37 years ago) Religion is a very confusing subject, especially if one doesn’t believe everything one was raised to believe. It has taken me many years to become comfortable with what makes me feel right. I want to explore Paganism a little. Keep up the interesting podcasts! One further comment. My uninformed opinion about apathy and disillusionment with your craft. I guess I would say that if what you believe feels right and comfortable and causes no one else any physical harm, than it is probably just what you should believe!

    Friendly regards,
    Debbie

Great episode, Fortuna! I LOL’d at about 7:32mins - got a good laugh out of that.

I look forward to the next one!
